This truly Victorian antique 15ct gold ring has been hallmarked by the Chester Assay Office with the date letter for 1883. 15 carat gold was a British legal standard between 1854 and 1931 and was replaced by 14 carat in 1932 making 15ct gold jewellery now very collectable. This beautifully crafted ring features two clear red 2.5mm round cut rubies and a 2.5mm cultured pearl flush prong set into an ornate central panel onto the front of the shank. The shank then tapers for a comfort fit to the reverse. The full Chester assay office marks are very clearly stamped on the inside shank with no rubbing or wearing whatsoever. The Chester Assay Office was an official Assay Office from 1700 until 1962. A stunning anniversary or promise ring.
