An absolutely gorgeous beautifully crafted Edwardian diamond daisy ring from the 1910s. The ring features nine glittering old mine cut diamonds of approximately 1 x 2.8mm and 8 x 1.5mm diameter in a decorative bezel set gallery of 18ct white gold and mounted onto a narrow 18ct yellow gold shank with unusual shoulder detailing. The diamonds are clear and extremely bright and have an approximate total diamond carat weight of 0.20ct. The ring bears the maker’smark SU LTD believed to be Solomon Ullmann, an established jeweller who operated in Birmingham and London’s historic Hatton Garden jewellery district during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A stunning antique engagement or promise ring.
Old mine cut diamonds are a type of antique diamond which unlike modern diamonds, that are cut and polished using high-tech equipment, old mine cut diamonds were cut by hand and eye, often giving them soft curving edges and a high crown that many people love about antique diamonds. This diamond cut was used extensively throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
