A superb quality antique 18ct yellow gold 5 stone ring set with five absolutely stunning graduated old mine cut diamonds which have been prong set into an 18ct white gold rex mount. The centre diamond measures approx 4mm and has an estimated diamond carat weight of 0.25ct, two 3.5mm diamonds either side have an approx. diamond carat weight of 0.15ct each and two 2mm with an approx carat weight of 0.03ct each. Total diamond weight approx. 0.60ct. The diamonds are of excellent colour and clarity. A stunning antique engagement or anniversary ring.
Old mine cut diamonds are a type of antique diamond which unlike modern diamonds, that are cut and polished using high-tech equipment, old mine cut diamonds were cut by hand and eye, often giving them soft curving edges and a high crown that many people love about antique diamonds. This diamond cut was used extensively throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
