An absolutely gorgeous diamond solitaire ring with elongated platinum shoulder detailing. The ring dates from the 1960s (hallmarked 1961) and has been beautifully crafted in 18ct yellow gold and platinum and features a very clear sparkling 3mm brilliant cut diamond flush set into an ornate star design platinum setting with ornate millgrain platinum shoulders and mounted onto a 18ct yellow gold shank. The ring has the maker’s mark S&D for Steele & Dolphin founded by Elliot Steele and Benjamin Dolphin of 119 Vyse Street, Birmingham and who were known for producing high quality jewellery particularly rings from the late 1930s through to the 1970s. A stunning antique engagement or promise ring.
