This stunning vintage 9ct yellow gold ring features a beautiful large golden-orange Palmeira citrine measuring 14mm x 10mm and of approximately 5.65CT in carat weight. Cocktail rings originated in the 1920s during Prohibition, when women wore them to signal to servers that they wanted an illegal drink. They became a symbol of women’s independence and were worn to social gatherings. They were traditionally worn on the right hand on either the middle finger or ring finger. Cocktail rings continued to grow in popularity throughout this period and reached their peak in the 1950s. A perfect and very eye catching anniversary, cocktail or statement ring.
