113 years old by Levi & Salaman, and in absolutely superb condition, this truly beautiful King George V antique 9ct rose gold ring has been hallmarked by the Chester Assay Office with the date letter for 1912. This beautifully crafted ring features three graduating oval cut rubies which are interspersed by six tiny seed pearls all flush set into a domed central panel onto the front of the shank. The shank then tapers for a comfort fit to the reverse. The Chester assay office mark is very clearly stamped on the inside of the shank, as is the year mark but there some rubbing to the gold fineness mark (9.375). The Chester Assay Office was an official Assay Office from 1700 until 1962. Levi & Salaman was founded by Phineas Harris Levi & Joseph Wolfe Salaman in Newhall Street, Birmingham in 1870 primarily as silversmiths, and they had been proprietors from 1878 of the Potosi Silver Co. The firm became Levi & Salaman Ltd in 1910 having moved on to producing fine gold jewellery. A beautiful antique promise or anniversary ring.
